Surprise!

The metaphor of life from death is well represented in this photo. The angle of the shot adds impact: it's at the level of the log, and down the length. The edge blur helps the viewer to focus on the seedling. The sunlight is not too bright, but is bright enough to accentuate the cracks in the dead log. The light and angle also help the viewer notice the details in the tiny new leaves.
